Preliminary Specification

TE 5000- 5 KVA Thermoelectric Power Supply

The TE 5000 unit  is a thermoelectric power supply designed for small residential and industrial power systems
to supply high-quality power for a range of domestic and industrial needs

A compact power supply for integration into a variety of household appliances
such as hot air and hydronic oil or gas fired furnaces and air conditioners

Description of Operation
The first stage consists a thermoelectric generator with a high speed switching network to convert the DC voltage to a high frequency square wave.  The high frequency low voltage input power from the thermoelectric generator is converted to a higher DC bus voltage. The second stage is a high-frequency DC-AC inverter that converts the DC bus voltage to a high-quality AC output power source.

The unit can be operated in either standalone mode or grid-connect mode.
In standalone mode, the unit can supply continuous high-quality power to a range of domestic and industrial loads while accommodating moderate short-term overload or surges.
In grid-connect mode the unit is interconnected to a traditional power utility service and can "sell" surplus power back to the grid, as it is available with unity power factor and low current harmonic distortion.

The unit can be fitted with a second DC-DC converter and a charger to provide a battery-backup feature. In standalone mode this allows the unit to supply high short-term overload and surge currents, and to supply uninterrupted power in the event that primary input power is lost.

The unit is designed to meet the requirements of UL 1741.
